In a scenic environment near the Bygdø Royal Farm and the old Stavechurch from Gol, visitors will find the Reception Rooms at Norsk Folkemuseum. Only minutes from central Oslo, the Reception Rooms offer a spectacular venue for those seeking a glimpse of traditional Norwegian culture in comfortable proximity to the capital. The Reception Rooms cater for all group sizes between 15 - 250 people. Unfortunately we are not open to individual visitors.
The Reception Rooms were built in 1917 by the famous Norwegian architect Magnus Poulsson. The building style follows the romantic national style that was popular in Norway at the time. Later in his career Poulsson contributed to the building of Oslo Town Hall, built in a much stricter Functionalist manner.
At the Reception Rooms you can choose between four venues gathered under a single roof. The Østerdalsstua and the Folkestuen are suitable for smaller and medium sized parties. The Festsalen and the Blue Lounge are often used for bigger occations such as weddings, gala dinners and lunches.
TG Selskapsmat, our in-house kitchen, provides the food and drink at the Reception Rooms. Their aim is to provide all our visitors with the highest level of service and to cater for the many and varied culinary needs of of our guests. The Reception Rooms will be delighted to help you arrange the perfect party. See our contact details below.
