The brick building in Wessels gate 15
was built in 1865 and torn down in 1999.

During this period the urban home went through
a process of modernization and technification
that must be described as a revolution.

The technological innovations resulted in
more rational housework,
less drudgery and easier living.

The new technology contributed to control
of darkness and light – day and night,
of heat and cold – time and space.

In the course of some decades
daily life was radically changed.
With the modernization of the home
people’s thoughts were also modernized.

Did the new technology that
entered the home
result in modern people?
